SAINT JOAN OF ARC POLICY FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER

Parishioners are encouraged to check local weather reports and always should use their best judgment in determining whether to attend any parish activity. Cancellations will be announced via email, the parish website, and/or Facebook.

  • Masses. Weekend Masses are cancelled only by directive of the Bishop of Toledo. If Masses are cancelled, then all SJA campus activities are also cancelled.
  • Level 3 Emergencies. If there is a Level 3 Snow/Ice Emergency for Lucas County, all campus activities, including Masses, are cancelled. The parish office will be closed.
  • Inclement Weather. (Snow/Ice/Wind Chill). If SJA School is closed due to inclement weather, then all other campus activities, including CYO/Athletics, will also be cancelled that day, with the exception of large parish activities, such as penance services or the Food Pantry. Large parish activities will be decided on a case-by-case basis. If the weather moderates later in the day and there is no Lucas County Emergency Level in effect, after school or athletic events may be permitted, given the permission of the pertinent authority: the Principal, Athletic Director, or Business Manager. The parish office will remain open.
  • Fog. If SJA School cancels classes for the day due to fog, all school activities for the day are cancelled. If the weather moderates later in the day and there is no Lucas County Emergency Level in effect, after school or CYO/Athletic events may be permitted, given the permission of the pertinent authority: Principal, Athletic Director, or Business Manager. No other parish activities are cancelled. The parish office will remain open.
